IMLA confirms Charles Haresnape as new chairman

The Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association has today confirmed Aldermore Bank residential mortgages director Charles Haresnape as its new chairman.

Following a unanimous vote by members of the IMLA executive committee, Haresnape will succeed David Finlay, who Mortgage Strategy revealed has left Barclays Bank and the trade body last week.

Haresnape has served as deputy chair since 2012 and will remain as chairman until IMLA’s AGM in November this year, when the next board election is due to take place.

Haresnape says: “I am looking forward to building on David’s great contribution as IMLA chairman and helping to move the organisation forward as we continue to grow. This is an exciting time for the industry with mortgage brokers increasingly at the heart of delivering quality products and services to consumers.

“IMLA has a vital role to play in supporting lender/broker relationships and informing broader efforts to shape a balanced and sustainable market.”

IMLA executive director Peter Williams says: “Charles will head up a strong team of IMLA directors who are committed to work closely with our members and associates, fellow trade bodies, Government and regulators to encourage the healthy growth of the mortgage and housing markets.

“Charles has already led on member and associate recruitment and has been instrumental in the growth of IMLA in recent years, and we will continue to seek new partners moving forward.”
